Big weekend ahead for Rocks

Rocks hit the road once again this weekend as they prepare to take on both Manchester Giants in the first leg of the BBL Cup on Friday before then heading to London on Sunday to take on the London City Royals for the first time this season.

Manchester sit just above Rocks in the league table with a 3-4 record. On the way to this Cup semi-final tie, Manchester were successful against Surrey before upsetting Cheshire Phoenix to advance.

The Giants will be a tough opponent on Friday night as Rocks will need to be aware of the BBL Player of the Month Willie Clayton who has been a force inside so far this season, averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds per game. Rocks will also need to look out for the hot hand of 6-year Giants veteran Callum Jones who has been averaging a career-high 15.2 point per game so far.

Rocks have won the last five matchups in a row with Giants. The question is can they keep that unbeaten streak alive going into the Cup semi-final?

Attention then turns to the newcomer to the BBL, the London City Royals on Sunday. The Royals have had an up and down season so far, starting the season 3-0 before then being on the other end of some big defeats to Newcastle Eagles, Leicester Riders and Cheshire Phoenix. They then followed that up with a redemption win over the Eagles, which makes this team difficult to predict.

Rocks will again have a lot on their plate inside as they will have to deal with the inside force that is Matthew Bryan-Amaning who is averaging 20 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. Although a small sample size so far, new signings for the Royals, Will Ohuaregbe and Jules Dang Akodo have also shown themselves to be productive players capable of putting up big numbers on the court. Forward Will Neighbour is also having a solid season for the Royals, averaging just shy of 14 points and also scoring on 54% of his triples.

Make sure you tune into on Friday from 7:30 PM and Sunday from 4:00 PM to see your Rocks in action!
