Club Statement: Vincent Lavandier

Glasgow Rocks and Head Coach Vincent Lavandier have mutually agreed to terminate their contract with immediate effect, the decision is taken as a result of the financial impact of the Covid-19 global pandemic and the general uncertainty around basketball at this time.

Duncan Smillie, Co-Owner of the Glasgow Rocks, said the following:  “I am very disappointed that we have not been able to see through our project with Vincent, he has created a level of first class professionalism and performance on the court that should be applauded. The real frustration is that we were not able to see out the 2019/20 season. When the season came to an abrupt halt in March we were sat top of the championship 4 points clear with only 5 games remaining, we will never know if we would have gone on and won our first ever Championship, but we do know at the time the season ended that through Vincent’s leadership we were top! The level of professionalism and performance that Vincent brought to the Rocks has been exceptional, as a man and as a coach he has conducted himself with utmost professionalism he will be sadly missed and leaves with our best wishes Vincent and his family will always be well received and welcome in Glasgow, Merci Vincent”

Vincent Lavandier also commented on his departure: Unfortunately, I leave the Rocks. I discovered an immense passion for Basketball in Scotland. I have enjoyed every moment as Head Coach of the Rocks, where my players, my staff have written the history of this franchise forever. I thank very much the fans for their welcome, dedication and love. You’re great and you’ll stay forever in my heart.

Au Revoir Rocks Family”
