A 105-93 defeat against Newcastle Eagles has left Glasgow Rocks second-bottom of the British Basketball League, but coach Gareth Murray is confident they’re about to hit form again.
Rocks host Cheshire Phoenix at the Emirates Arena on Sunday before clashing with Worcester Wolves next Friday, and Rutherglen star Murray hopes for more wins, following four defeats from five games.
However, he says survival was always the aim for Rocks this season, given their many obstacles.
He said: “We’ve always said this year was about survival for us, and there will hopefully be a Rocks in the future.
“It was never about putting a team out there to win championships – it was always about still being here in January, and then we’ll get some money from the government, which will really help, on top of fans and sponsors, which has kept us going.”
Rocks have brought in American stars Christian Keeling and Ronald Delph, and Murray hopes that provides a bit more depth in the squad….
