Head coach Gareth Murray has confirmed his assistant coach and team manager ahead of the 2020/21 league season starting this weekend.
Team manager Gary Penders is a familiar face who rejoins the club for his 7th year, having previously worked under Sterling Davis, Iain McLean, Daryl Wood, Vincent Lavandier and now Coach Murray.
Gary takes care of the players’ game-day requirements and keeps our bench working to full capacity.
New assistant coach Sean Davidson was born & raised in the east end of Glasgow. He has coached basketball at camps in the US and attended our partner university at UWS where he obtained his honours degree in Sport Coaching. After leaving UWS he joined Scottish Sports Futures as a youth development coordinator and is a coach at the University of Glasgow basketball club for both the men and women teams.
Coach Murray said the following on the appointments:
“I’m delighted to get both onboard.”
“With my position being a split player/coach role having guys I can rely on behind me on the bench is vital”
“I’ve worked with Gary for years and know the experience and attention to detail he brings to the table. Making sure he was involved was a no-brainer.
“Sean is an excellent up and coming coach that I’ve worked with previously. He’s eager to learn, knows the club well and has totally bought into the systems I’m looking to implement at the club”.
