NEWS: Rocks given BBL Trophy bye after Reading withdraw

Glasgow Rocks have today been informed that Reading Rockets will be unable to fulfill the fixture drawn last Friday in the first round of the BBL Trophy.

Therefore, Glasgow Rocks have been given a bye into the next round.

The BBL have released the following statement:

“The BBL Trophy tie between Glasgow Rocks and Reading Rockets has been cancelled as Reading are unable to fulfil the tie due to travel related Covid-19 concerns.

In line with the Covid-19 rule amendments, Glasgow Rocks are awarded a bye to the next stage of the competition to face the winner of the meeting between Cheshire Phoenix and Hemel Storm.”

Whilst we are obviously happy to continue into the next round of the trophy we are disappointed the Reading Rockets have been unable to go ahead with the planned fixture.

We look forward to our match against either the Cheshire Phoenix or Hemel Storm in the quarter final.
