Payne Comes North!
The Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks have secured the services of American Guard Devontavius Payne for the 19/20 BBL Season.
Payne, who spent last year with Plymouth Raiders and averaged over 11 points & 3 rebounds per game for the side who upset London Lions in the playoffs.
And having shot a career average of around 40% from beyond the arc in NCAA Division 1, the Rocks latest signing should bring some extra shot making to their already well-established back court.
And upon his signing, Payne said: “I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with the Rocks team & fans, and ready to play some exciting basketball!”
And Coach Lavandier was happy to secure the services of the former Plymouth sharpshooter: “In the construction of our team, we needed a shooter at 3pts, but also a mature player, with athletic qualities. Devontavius fulfilled his 3 criteria with 39% at 3pts in NCAA, 34% the last year in BBL with Plymouth. Devontavius signs with the Rocks to become our shooting Guard.
He has the ability to be an altruistic player, and a great defender. His capacity to understand the play, to make some steals will be a plus for the Rocks.
His BBL experience will help the team to have more consistency in our games.”
The Rocks now have 8 players signed up for next season, with more announcements anticipated in the coming weeks!!
