Rocks were slow to get out the gate in comparison to previous games but went back-and-forth with the Manchester side throughout the first quarter, tying the game at 16 each at the end of the period. Bo Zeigler was quick to get in on the action as he scored 7 straight points in the quarter.

Rocks would pull away from the home team in the second quarter, as Jonny Bunyan checked in the game and knocked down three consecutive three-pointers to put Rocks up 26-38. Some strong defence prevented Giants from scoring allowing Rocks to take a 30-42 lead into the break.
