Rocks dethrone the London City Royals

Rocks made it 4 wins in a row Tuesday night when they took down the London City Royals 98-81 at home. Having already lost to the London side four times already this season, Rocks looked like a rejuvenated squad, playing tough defense on one of the best offensive teams in the league.

The Rocks got it going early, as Americans Greg Pryor and Kenny Carpenter combined for 10 points in the opening minutes. Some solid defense made it hard for Royals to operate, allowing Rocks to push out to a 22-13 lead at the end of the first.

There was not long in the second quarter before Bouna Ndiaye knocked down a three to give the home side a 10-point lead. Rocks would continue to keep Royals at arm’s length throughout the second quarter, going into the break with a 47-39 lead.

Coming out of the gate in the third quarter Tadas was quick to get it going as he knocked down a three-pointer to put 50-39. Throughout the quarter Tadas would go on to knock down 4 more three’s allowing Rocks to build a significant lead going into the final quarter.

Although Royals outscored Rocks 29-21 in the final quarter, Rocks refused to take their foot off the gas in the final period as Bouna Ndiaye stepped up and scored 11 points in the last quarter. When it was all said and done, Rocks claimed their first victory over the London City Royals.

In what was a great team performance, both Tadas Rinkunas and Bouna Ndiaye scored 17 points each, while Greg Pryor added 16 and Bo Zeigler added 14.

Rocks now face a road trip to Manchester on Thursday followed by when they return to the Emirates to face the Leicester Riders on Sunday. Tickets can be bought here.
