Rocks Establish International Ambassador Role.

The Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks are pleased to announce Ian Houston has joined the Rocks as an official ambassador of the organisation in the USA. Based in Washington DC, Ian has strong family links to Scotland and has a passion for basketball and community work.

Duncan Smillie, Owner at The Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks, said: “From the first moment we engaged with Ian his passion for Scotland and Basketball came shining through. To have the opportunity to work with someone like Ian who has been developing links to The NBA, as well as strong political connections was something we couldn’t pass up. We would hope that possible partnerships could be formed around player recruitment, coaching and corporate opportunities, and I personally look forward to working with Ian as we go forward.”

On his new position, Ian Houston said: “My father grew up in Glasgow not too far from where the Rocks play. My family has been deeply immersed in the Glasgow community for generations and being the ambassador for the Rocks in the United States is truly an honour.

I am struck at how well the Rocks organization and players connect with and inspire local communities around Glasgow, especially touching youth and families. The organization is thoughtful and has heart! I am looking forward to using my executive experience, passion for sport, and love of Scotland, to draw positive attention to the remarkable story that is the Glasgow Rocks.”
