Rocks fall short against Eagles

Rocks were handed their third straight loss to the Newcastle Eagles on Friday night when they were defeated 83-66 in Newcastle.

Rocks let the game slip away from them early in the first quarter as the Eagles pushed out to an early 9-0 lead. However Rocks were able to trim the lead to 15-13 5 minutes into the game as Bo Zeigler made his impact known, scoring and assisting on plays from the post.

Nevertheless, Rocks were unable to keep up with Eagles scoring and they fell to double-digits behind in the second quarter. They were able to stay afloat against the Eagles until the halftime buzzer when they went back to the locker room trailing 42-34.

Coming out of the break Rocks trimmed the lead to 3 points on the back of 3 straight three-pointers from Greg Pryor. But despite this Rocks took their foot off the gas a little too much, allowing Eagles to go on a run of their own and control a 59-53 lead heading into the final quarter.

With the momentum not swinging in their favour Rocks couldn’t get anything to go in the final quarter and were ultimately outscored 24-13 in the fourth to take the 83-66 loss in Newcastle.

Kieron Achara lead the way for Rocks with 17 points. Greg Pryor also added 14 points of his own.

Rocks now look ahead to next weekend when they return to the Emirates to face the Manchester Giants on Friday closely followed by Worcester Wolves on Sunday. Get your tickets now here.
