Rocks fall to the Sheffield Sharks in OT

It was not to be for Rocks as they fell to the Sheffield Sharks 85-94 in OT in their final game of 2018.


Rocks started off strong, jumping out to a 11-4 lead as Gareth Murray knocked down a jumper to put Rocks up by 7. Bouna Ndiaye then extended the lead with a tough floater in the lane.

Rocks then extended the lead even further as Gareth Murray knocked down another three to push the lead to 11. As the first quarter came to a close, Rocks held a 27-15 lead.


Rocks came out with more of the same in the second as three’s were raining for Tadas Rinkunas and Gareth Murray.


However, Sharks managed to bite into the lead as it approached the end of the half, as Rocks took a 44-36 lead into the break.


Rocks were slow coming out of the gate in the second half, allowing Sheffield to claw their way back into the game. With five minutes left in the game, Sheffield were within 4 points of Rocks. Rocks struggled to convert down the stretch and with 1 minute left were within 1 point of the home side. Bouna then knocked down a shot in the lane to push the lead to three only for Sharks’ Dirk Williams to hit a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 79-79. Rocks couldn’t get the score on the next possession and consequently the game went to overtime.


Rocks couldn’t see it out against Sharks in Overtime as Sharks went on a 8-0 run after Kenny Carpenter scored the first points of extra time. When it all came to a close, Sharks took the 85-94 victory in Glasgow.
