Rocks narrowly miss out against Wolves on the road
It was not to be for Rocks on Friday night when they narrowly lost 74-72 to the Wolves on the road.
Rocks came into Friday’s game coming off a double-header on the road the previous weekend and were looking to secure the sweep of the Wolves in the season series. However they could not take the win against a side who were determined to make sure they didn’t finish bottom of the BBL table.
15 minutes to go until tipoff here in Worcester.

Despite 7 more points in the quarter from Ali Fraser, Wolves would make a run in the second, outscoring Rocks 24-18 to take a 42-37 lead into the halftime break.

Rocks would outscored Wolves in both of the quarters in the second half but it was not enough to run away with a lead in Worcester.

The game would be tied at 71-71 with 1 minute left on the clock. However, Wolves’ Darrell Combs would make a tough layup in the paint with 28 seconds to play. Following a timeout and a tactical foul by the Wolves Rocks would have possession with 18 seconds to play. The ball would land in the hands of Tadas Rinkunas who was open for three to take the lead, but he couldn’t convert. Rocks then fouled DeShawn Freeman who made one from the line and missed on the second making it a three-point game. With 9 seconds to play, Rocks would be tactically fouled once again denying them a shot at making the three to tie the game. With Greg Pryor on the line, he made one and deliberately missed the second but Rocks could not convert on a last heave attempt and came away with the narrow 74-72 defeat in Worcester.
Rocks now face their final regular season game at home on Sunday when they host the Plymouth Raiders at 5:00PM when they look to secure 5th place going into the Playoffs. Limited tickets are still available here.
