Rocks secure place in BBL Cup Final

It was never in doubt for Rocks as they took down the Manchester Giants to secure their place in the Final of the BBL Cup on the 27th of January.

Rocks came out of the gate raring to go, jumping out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes of the game – a lead they would keep for the remainder of the game. Bouna Ndiaye opened the scoring early, scoring 6 points in the first quarter.

Rocks would extend their lead heading towards the half as all the team got in on the scoring. Manchester would really struggle with Rocks penetration as they got into the paint with ease.

It was more of the same in the third quarter as Rocks kept their composure coming out of the break. Ali Fraser, Kieron Achara and Bouna Ndiaye would continue to make a big impact inside and out to give Rocks a 72-60 lead heading into the final period.

In the final quarter Rocks started to put the nail on the coffin, in no small part to the effort of Kieron Achara who dropped in 13 points in the final quarter. Jonny Bunyan and Ali Fraser would then link up to finish off the Giants with a crushing dunk at the end of the game.

When it was all said and done Rocks came away with the 95-81 win at home, securing their place in the Final of the BBL Cup on the 27th January in Birmingham. Five players finished in double-digits with Achara leading the way with 22 points and Bouna Ndiaye also contributing 17 of his own.

Rocks now look have a short break before they’re back at it in the Emirates in two week’s time when they face Leicester Riders at the Emirates. Tickets for that game can still be purchased here.
