Rocks take down league leaders London Lions

Rocks took a vital win over league-leading London Lions on Sunday night when they defeated them 76-66 at the Emirates Arena, taking their first win of the season against the London side.

It was a slow start for Rocks as they allowed the traveling Lions to leap out to an early lead. Lions top scorer Justin Robinson scored a quick 6 points that allowed Lions to possess a 12-18 lead at the end of the 1st.

Rocks managed to claw their way back into the game in the second quarter however as Euros, Tadas Rinkunas and Bouna Ndiaye combined for 13 points to pull Lions lead to just 33-35.

It was not long in the third before Kieron Achara knocked down a three to tie the game at 41 a-piece. Kieron Achara would then proceed to take over in the third, scoring 12 of his 16 points on the game in the quarter.

With Rocks looking to take the lead, it was disaster for Lions as Robinson received his second technical and was subsequently ejected from the game. Rocks then took advantage of this opportunity and went into the final quarter up 55-53.

Rocks took over in the final quarter, outscoring Lions 21-13. Some strong defence and some big shots down the stretch were crucial for Rocks as they took the game 76-66, claiming a vital win in Rocks push for the Playoffs.

Bouna Ndiaye finished as the game’s top scorer with 19 points.
