Rocks take down the Cheshire Phoenix in Overtime

Rocks started off 2019 with a 101-96 OT win against Cheshire Phoenix in front of a packed Emirates Arena.

The traveling Cheshire Phoenix were quick to get into the game, pushing out to a 9-4 lead in the early minutes. Cheshire would lead until late in the first quarter when momentum plays from Bouna Ndiaye and Bo Zeigler allowed Rocks to take the lead by the end of the 1st.

Rocks then finished off a 38-point first quarter with a three from Gareth Murray to beat the buzzer.

Despite 8-points in the 2nd quarter by Ali Fraser, Rocks allowed Cheshire back into the game as they cut into the lead. By the end of the half were back within 2 at the end of the half.

By the 4th quarter Rocks had a 6-point lead over their opponents. Rocks kept Cheshire at bay for the majority of the 4th but with 2 minutes left Cheshire retook the lead and Rocks were trailing by 1.

But with 5 seconds left on the clock Cheshire missed a free throw to push the lead to 3 and Rocks rushed up court to get the ball to Gareth Murray for the three which he would miss but Kenny Carpenter was there for the follow to tie the game on the buzzer at 87-87.

Rocks would then outscore Cheshire 14-9 in overtime to seal the 101-96 win at home.

Ali Fraser would finish as the games highest scorer with 22 points. Kenny Carpenter would also drop 21 points along and Gareth Murray finished the game with 17 points.
