SIGNING NEWS: 7ft American #23 Ronald Delph joins the Rocks!

Glasgow Rocks are delighted to announce the signing of our new American #23 Ronald Delph.

Ronald, who is 7 foot tall and 27 years old has been a professional for two years after coming through the NCAA system at Florida Atlantic.

The centre, who has previously played in Europe for Siauliai of the Lithuanian league and Rapla of the Estonian-Latvian league joins from Moncton Magic of the Canadian NBL.

Last year Ronald posted an average of 11.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in 19 games during a season shortened by the effects of the Covid.

Ronald himself said of the move

“I feel honored to be here in Glasgow joining the Rocks for the rest of the season.

“The Rocks have presented me with a wonderful opportunity to continue to follow my dreams of being a professional basketball player.

“Glasgow is a beautiful city and the people here are known to be very friendly. It’s a home away from home.

“I’m extremely excited to suit up and get on the court!”

Player-coach Gareth Murray had this to say:

“Ron is a very mobile 7 foot tall center with a versatile skill set.

“He brings some experience in Europe already having played in the Basketball Champions League and I expect him to adapt well to this league.

“He has good footwork and touch around the basket. But also has the ability to be a rim protector on defense.

“He will match up well with the other big guys teams have brought in this year.”

Ronald is in the country currently completing his self-isolation and is expected to make his first start in the coming weeks.
